A 3-day retreat with
Rupert Spira
in Norway
“Whenever we are seeking happiness, it is in fact our innate happiness that is seeking us. The happiness we seek is the happiness we are”. - Rupert Spira
Being, Consciousness, and Inner Freedom
A 3-day retreat with Rupert Spira in Norway, May 22nd – 25th, 2025.
In the last few years Rupert Spira has become one of the most respected and sought-after teachers of non-dual wisdom, known for his crystal-clear use of language and skillful guided enquiries, directly pointing to aware presence.
In his meetings, Rupert explores the perennial, non-dual understanding that lies at the heart of all the great religious and spiritual traditions, such as Advaita Vedanta, Kashmir Shivaism, Hinduism and Buddhism, Mystical Christianity, Sufism, Zen etc., and which is also the direct, ever-present reality of our own experience. This is a contemporary, experiential approach involving silent meditation, guided meditation and conversation, and requires no affiliation to any particular religious or spiritual tradition. All that is required isan interest in the essential nature of experience, and in the longing for love, peace and happiness around which most of our lives revolve.
”I have gained deeper understanding listening to Rupert Spira than I have from any other exponent of modern spirituality”. - Deepak Chopra, M.D., author and spiritual teacher
"Rupert Spira is one of the finest non-dual teachers of the present time. His penetrating insights into the nature of awareness, delivered with exceptional clarity and eloquence, take you straight to the heart of Advaita (non-duality). His articulate, well-reasoned approach to the essence of awakening, is not to be missed". - Peter Russell, author, physicist, and teacher of consciousness
For those of us who love to dive deeply into the heart of the non-dual understanding, this retreat offers an unprecedented opportunity: three days with Rupert where we steep together in the peace of our true nature.
Each day features guided meditations in which we rest in being, as being, as well as a dialogue in which we discuss the non-dual understanding. You will also have the opportunity to participate in a one-hour yoga session each day. We plan to have a musical event after the meditation session on Saturday evening (more details will follow).
Between the meetings, we enjoy three delicious meals together. We might relax with friends and possibly go for a walk and enjoy the beautiful surroundings by Oslo Fjord.
Whether you seek peace, happiness, truth, love or freedom this retreat provides the priceless opportunity to taste your true nature in an atmosphere of kindness and beauty.
About Rupert Spira – a short spiritual biography
From an early age, Rupert Spira was deeply interested in the nature of reality and the source of lasting peace and happiness. After spending twenty years immersed in the teachings of classical Advaita Vedanta, he met his teacher, Francis Lucille, who introduced him to the Direct Path approach whereby one may recognise the source of peace and happiness in oneself. Rupert has written several books and holds regular meetings and retreats online, as well as in Europe and the United States. He is also a noted potter, trained in the British Studio Pottery school, with work in public and private collections.

Question & Answers
Q: Can I stay at a place outside Oslofjord Convention Center during the retreat?
A: This is a residential retreat where all participants stay together on site to avoid distraction, so the answer is generally no.
Q: Can I come and stay at the convention center one or two days before the retreat or one or two days after the retreat
A: Unfortunately, this is not possible – neither before nor after the retreat. You are of course free to book a hotel room for example in Oslo or Tønsberg (the closest towns with hotels) before and after the retreat. To do this we suggest that you go to one of the following web-sites: www.booking.com or www.visitnorway.no
Q: Is it possible to participate for just one or two days of the retreat and then pay a reduced price?
A: Sorry, it is not possible to come for just part of the event.
Q: Can I order a special diet?
A: The convention center offers buffet based meals so you may choose which foods you prefer.
The following options are offered:
Vegetarian diet
Vegan diet
Normal diet – that is vegetarian or vegan with some fish and fowl
Glutenfree diet in all the categories above.
Other special requirements cannot be satisfied.
Q: Can I drink the tap water at the conference centre?
A: Yes, the tap water in Norway is very good – better and safer than bottled water.
Q: Can I bring my children?
A: If they are old enough to take care of themselves during the talks and sessions you are welcome to bring your children. Otherwise you would also need to bring a caretaker for the child/ren during the teaching sessions. For children and/or caretaker, you would only pay for board and lodging unless they also participate in the teaching sessions. For further information and, if needed, to get a special payment link, please mail to: eirik@visionworks.no.
Q: Any advice for sight-seeing before or after the retreat?
A: There are so many possibilities. We suggest that you go to the web-site www.visitnorway.no
Q: Is it possible to rent a yoga-mat during the retreat?
A: No, this is not possible. Either you need to bring your own yogamat or you can buy one as part of your booking of accommodation/meals.
Q: What is the weather like in Norway at the time of the retreat?
A: The weather in Norway can be nice and sunny in May, but sometimes it can also be rather cool and rainy, so it is good to bring a warm sweater and rain coat.
